Tottenham Hotspur puts Man United in crisis

It’s no shock when we say that there are some problems between Jose Mourinho and the Manchester United board. The Portuguese used the entire transfer window to express his feeling about the state of his squad. He has been saying that they needed to sign at least a world class defender, if they want to compete for the Premier League title this season. Toby Alderweireld was the name on top of his wishlist, but the Belgium centre back played for the opponents yesterday. The fact that a transfer never came through, was for the better for Alderweireld, based on yesterday’s result (0-3 victory for Tottenham Hotspur).

After a devastating preseason, there is only one way for Mourinho to turn the negative atmosphere at United around. Winning matches will always cover any problems at a football club. Now the Premier League is only three matches old, Man United only managed to win one match. They beat Leicester City in the first match of this season but lost away against Brighton & Hove Albion and at home against Tottenham Hotspur. It was a good performance by the Spurs, not many teams can score three goals at Old Trafford. But it was a very poor display by Mourinho’s team. He shook things up after the defeat against Brighton. The line-up changed in six places and the likes of Juan Mata and Antony Martial were left at home.

With 3 points out of 3 matches, we can say Manchester United are in trouble. The big question is how long the board will give Mourinho to turn things around. The upcoming fixtures Burnley (away) and Watford (away) will be very important for the team. Man United really needs to win these two difficult away matches, but they need to change things to do so.
