Match Details
Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Old Trafford. The kick-off time and UK broadcast details for this fixture are still to be confirmed by the Premier League.
Old Trafford
Old Trafford has been Manchester United's home ground since 1910, when the club moved from Bank Street in Clayton. Based in the Old Trafford area of Greater Manchester, Old Trafford is the largest club stadium in the Premier League, holding 74,310 fans at full capacity. Nicknamed "The Theatre of Dreams" and surrounded by statues of United legends like George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton, you can really feel the history of the club. If you're travelling to the stadium from Manchester, it's incredibly easy to get to via public transport. The best option is probably to get the tram to Old Trafford Metrolink stop, which is then just a very short walk from the stadium. However, on matchdays, Old Trafford tram stop can get quite busy, so if you'd prefer to avoid the rush of supporters, you could opt to walk the ten minutes or so from Trafford Park railway station instead.
Head-to-Head Record
Everyone knows that this is one of the most historic fixtures in English football, with 207 meetings between the two sides. Of those 207 meetings, Manchester United have won 97 times compared to Tottenham's 58, while there have been 52 draws. United won both meetings in the league between the sides last season, so the expectation from most football supporters will be that Michael Carrick’s side does the same again. However, Spurs did manage to beat Manchester United in the Europa League final back in 2025, although it was a poor performance form both sides and a lot has happened since then, with both sides replacing their managers and moving towards opposite end of the table. This will certainly be a good marker of where both sides are at in terms of their progress.
Last Meeting: Manchester United 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur (February 7, 2026)
The last meeting between the two sides was back in February and it saw Manchester United pick up all three points on what was a very comfortable day for the Red Devils. Both sides went into the game on very different ends of the spectrum in terms of form, with Spurs languishing near the bottom of the table and United picking up results under Carrick, and it didn’t take long for the odds to head in United’s direction. Spurs captain, Cristian Romero, picked up a red card for a poor challenge on Casemiro midway through the first half, before Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring with a smart finish. United peppered Spurs goal in the second half before Bruno Fernandes then added a second goal late on to seal all three points. Spurs will hope their change of manager and huge influx of new signings will help turn the tide in their favour this season. However, after a poor start to the season in which they’ve lost to both Brentford and Newcastle United without scoring a goal and conceding five, Spurs fans will be wincing at the prospect of facing one of the top sides in the country. That said, this could be an opportunity for De Zerbi and Spurs to ignite their season and build momentum for the rest fo the campaign.
Manchester United 2026-2027 Season
Manchester United head into the 2026-2027 campaign with Michael Carrick now in permanent charge of the club following his success at the backend of last season. Having spent big on a brand new midfield in the summer, which includes the likes of Carlos Beleba, Andrey Santos, and Youri Tielemans, United now look to have a much stronger squad than they did last campaign. As a result, there is an expectation on them to compete for trophies and at least make an attempt to go for the Premier League title. With the squad now looking a lot better, it's now up to Michael Carrick and his side to prove they can kick on and challenge for major honours once again. However, with Carrick’s side likely to look to play more expansive football this season, there may be a bit of a transition period. That was clear in their opening game of the season in which they lost 2-0 to Hull City, United looked sluggish and their new signings struggled to gel with the rest of the team. If Manchester United are going to take the step up this season, they will no doubt be heavily reliant on captain Fernandes again. Fernandes broke the all-time Premier League record last season and he’ll be hoping the rest of the side can reach his levels this campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur 2026-2027 Season
Tottenham head into the 2026-2027 campaign desparate to the put the last two seasons firmly behind them. In Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs have appointed a manager capable of bringing them success, however, their start to the season have left a lot to be desired with fans already worried about how they will fare in the rest of the season. The manager has been backed heavily in the summer transfer window, signing the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Omar Marmoush and Jan Paul van Hecke, and the Italian will be hoping this fresh blood can inject a bit of sharpness into his side. Heading into the season Spurs fans were optimistic of reaching the European spots, however after their poor start to the campaign, De Zerbi has his work cut out to lift the spirits of his struggling side. But, having lost both games against United last season, this could be a real chance for Spurs to show how much they have improved and lay a marker down for the rest of the season.
