Manchester United head into the 2026-2027 campaign with Michael Carrick now in permanent charge of the club following his success at the backend of last season. Having spent big on a brand new midfield in the summer, which includes the likes of Carlos Beleba, Andrey Santos, and Youri Tielemans, United now look to have a much stronger squad than they did last campaign. As a result, there is an expectation on them to compete for trophies and at least make an attempt to go for the Premier League title. With the squad now looking a lot better, it's now up to Michael Carrick and his side to prove they can kick on and challenge for major honours once again. However, with Carrick’s side likely to look to play more expansive football this season, there may be a bit of a transition period. That was clear in their opening game of the season in which they lost 2-0 to Hull City, United looked sluggish and their new signings struggled to gel with the rest of the team. If Manchester United are going to take the step up this season, they will no doubt be heavily reliant on captain Fernandes again. Fernandes broke the all-time Premier League record last season and he’ll be hoping the rest of the side can reach his levels this campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur 2026-2027 Season
Tottenham head into the 2026-2027 campaign desparate to the put the last two seasons firmly behind them. In Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs have appointed a manager capable of bringing them success, however, their start to the season have left a lot to be desired with fans already worried about how they will fare in the rest of the season. The manager has been backed heavily in the summer transfer window, signing the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Omar Marmoush and Jan Paul van Hecke, and the Italian will be hoping this fresh blood can inject a bit of sharpness into his side. Heading into the season Spurs fans were optimistic of reaching the European spots, however after their poor start to the campaign, De Zerbi has his work cut out to lift the spirits of his struggling side.
