Match Details
Arsenal v Ipswich Town takes place on Saturday, January 2, 2027 at Emirates Stadium. The kick-off time and UK broadcast details for this fixture are still to be confirmed by the Premier League.
Emirates Stadium
Emirates Stadium has been Arsenal's home since 2006, replacing the legendary Highbury after 93 years. Located in Holloway, North London, the stadium holds approximately 60,704 supporters, making it the fourth-largest in the Premier League. The modern arena features the famous "Arsenalisation" project which brought iconic elements from Highbury, including statues of club legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams, plus the relocated Highbury clock. The stadium is easily accessible via Arsenal tube station on the Piccadilly line or Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington on the Victoria line. The club is exploring expansion plans to increase capacity beyond 70,000 as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations in 2026.
Head-to-Head Record
Arsenal and Ipswich Town share a long history stretching back to Ipswich's strong top-flight years, but the Gunners have been dominant in recent meetings. When the sides last met in the Premier League in 2024/25, Arsenal completed a comfortable double — a 1-0 home win and a 4-0 victory at Portman Road. Ipswich return to North London after just one season away from the top flight, looking to make a far better account of themselves this time around.
Last Meeting: Ipswich Town 0-4 Arsenal (April 20, 2025)
The most recent meeting came at Portman Road, where Arsenal eased to a 4-0 win over 10-man Ipswich. Leandro Trossard struck twice either side of a Gabriel Martinelli finish, and Ethan Nwaneri added a late fourth. Ipswich's task was made impossible when Leif Davis was sent off in the first half, and the result effectively confirmed their relegation while keeping Arsenal's title hopes alive at the time. It remains the last meeting between the clubs.
Arsenal 2026-2027 Season
Arsenal go into this fixture as reigning Premier League champions. Under Mikel Arteta — named Premier League Manager of the Season — the Gunners ended a 22-year wait for the title in 2025/26, topping the table with the league's best defensive record after three consecutive runner-up finishes. They also reached the Champions League final for the first time in two decades, narrowly losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, and finished as EFL Cup runners-up. The title-winning core remains the spine of the team: Bukayo Saka, captain Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes and striker Viktor Gyokeres, supported by the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Piero Hincapie and Eberechi Eze. With the squad chasing honours at home and in Europe, every home fixture is a chance to keep their 2026-2027 campaign on track.
Ipswich Town 2026-2027 Season
Ipswich Town make an immediate return to the Premier League under Kieran McKenna, bouncing straight back after relegation from the top flight in 2024/25, when they finished 19th. Promoted as Championship runners-up behind Coventry, McKenna's side — who climbed from League One to the Premier League in successive seasons not long ago — will be determined to make their second crack at top-flight survival count, having lost key players such as striker Liam Delap. Home matches are played at Portman Road. A New Year visit to the champions is exactly the kind of yardstick that will show how far Ipswich have come.
