The Paraguay National Football team, nicknamed La Albirroja, is a member of the Conmebol South America Confederation and Asociacion Paraguava de Futbol competion. Since 1930, Paraguay has appeared in the World Cup seven times. Their best World Cup appearances were Round 1 in 2006; Round 2 in 1986, 1998, and 2002. In 2004, Paraguay earned a Silver Medal in the Olympic Games. In 2003, Paraguay went to Round 1 in the Pan American Games. Paraguay has played in Copa America thirty-three times resulting in wins in both 1953 and 1979. Their home stadium is Estadio Defensores del Chaco. High goal scorers include Jose Saturino, Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Humberto, Nelson Cuevas, Dante López, and Edgar González. Head coach is Francisco Arce. Paraguay is currently participating in the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
