FA Cup: Man City 2-0 Chelsea | Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea

Manchester City can still entertain the dream of winning the quadruple, after beating a poor Chelsea side 2-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Stevan Jovetic should have put the home side ahead after fifteen minutes, but saw his shot from close range hit the crossbar. Moments later his luck turned. City moved upfield with some superb passing and Jovetic saw his low shot glide into the net while Petr Cech could only watch. Chelsea were not on form, managing to get the ball into City's area but lacking the finishing touches. Samir Nasri was brought on for Jovetic in the 61st minute, and took just six minutes to leave his mark. His run at the defense culminated in a one-two with David Silva and he managed to tap the ball in from six yards out. Joleon Lescott then thought he'd scored a third but was flagged for off-side, but the two goals were enough for City to move into the last eight.

Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool

Arsenal were thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield last week in the League, but they exacted revenge here, seeing off Brendan Rodgers' side 2-1 to go through to an FA Cup quarter final tie against Everton. The Emirates Stadium came alive in the 16th minute when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain grabbed a loose ball in the Liverpool box and steered it past Brad Jones to make it 1-0. Liverpool should have been in the lead but couldn't finish their early chances. Oxlade-Chamberlain set up Arsenal's second, racing down the right and finding Lukas Podolski with a perfect pass who made it 2-0. Podolski was the villain 12 minutes later when he brought down Suarez in the area. Steven Gerrard calmly stepped up to pull one back but they didn't have the strength to find an equaliser and Arsene Wenger will feel positive about his teams performance after the previous meeting between the two clubs.
