Mourinho confirms Juan Mata move to Man Utd

Jose Mourinho confirms that Juan Mata will move to Old Trafford

Manchester United are expected to unveil Spanish midfielder Juan Mata as their latest signing later this week. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that the Red Devils agreed a club record fee of 37m with Chelsea to bring the playmaker to Old Trafford. Mata will formally complete the transfer today when he agrees personal terms and takes a routine medical in Manchester. The influential 25-year-old could be made available to make his debut next Tuesday for a home game against Cardiff City.

A big boost for David Moyes

The purchase of Mata represents a big coup for Manchester United, and will be seen as a massive boost for their embattled boss David Moyes. Juan Mata, 25, has amassed 32 caps for the Spanish national side and has been seen as key member of Chelsea's squad since signing from Valencia in 2011. The departing Mata, who was named as Chelsea's player of the year for the past two seasons, is likely to be sorely missed by the club. Mourinho has dismissed Arsene Wenger's suggestion that Chelsea are affecting the transfer market and even the title race by allowing Mata to go to Manchester United. Mourinho claimed that the Arsenal manager's complaint was "normal", and that Chelsea "act according to the rules".
