English Premiership: Arsenal 4-1 Wigan | Reading 0-2 Man City

Arsenal 4-1 Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic, winners of the FA Cup, will be playing in the Championship next season after losing 4-1 to Arsenal and being effectively relegated from the Premier League. Wigan had to win to entertain hopes of staying up, but Arsenal went ahead in the 11th minute after Lukas Podolski headed in Cazorla's corner. Referee Mike Dean awarded Wigan a free-kick just before half-time, and Szczesny managed to get a hand to Shaun Maloney's free kick but couldn't keep it out. Theo Walcott made it 2-1 just after the hour mark and Podolski got his second after lobbing the keeper five minutes later. Aaron Ramsey grabbed Arsenal's fourth in the 71st minute, meaning Wigan make history as the first team to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season.

Reading 0-2 Manchester City

Manchester City, in their first match since manager Roberto Mancini was sacked, beat an already-relegated Reading 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium. Brian Kidd oversaw a victory for City which guarantees them second place in the Premiership table. Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy made some fine saves to keep Reading in the game, but Sergio Aguero made it 1-0 five minutes before the break, hitting a splendid shot into the bottom corner. Reading came out fighting after the break, but couldn't capitalise on their chances. Edin Dzeko sealed City's win in the 88th minute, receiving the ball from a clever David Silva pass to score from six yards out.
