Sir Alex Ferguson dismisses Rooney to PSG

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has moved to cool press speculation that star striker Wayne Rooney will move to French outfit Paris St Germain this summer. Rumours concerning the move started when an ex-director of PSG claimed that the deal was already done to take England striker Rooney to Paris. Some observers questioned whether Rooney was moving down the pecking order at Old Trafford but Ferguson has been quick to dismiss such talk, telling reporters that he didn't think there was anything in the PSG story. Rooney still has around two-and-a-half years to go on a five year contract, which he signed after performing a U-turn on his stated desire to leave the club after claiming they couldn't attract top players anymore.

Rooney to face Aston Villa

Despite the speculation, Ferguson insists that talks to extend Rooney's current deal will take place when the time is right and the striker will be in the Red Devils' squad to face Aston Villa on Monday. Ferguson revealed that the game against West Ham last Wednesday had left key players with various bumps and knocks but admitted he was pleased to leave behind what he described as a 'war zone' without serious injury. Rooney was subbed in that game after a poor performance. You can get your Man Utd tickets online now!
