Track TicketsArsenal made an impressive comeback from losing 4-0 to winning 7-5 in extra time against Reading. This was one truly extraordinary fourth-round tie match in the League Cup, played last Tuesday in the Madejski Stadium. Walcott was Arsenal's saviour after he claimed an equaliser in the 95th minute to force more extra time and completed a hat-trick in the last minute. The first half was a nightmare for Arsenal fans as Arsenal's defender Koscielny and Martinez, the fourth-choice keeper, failed to stop Reading's goal efforts. Koscielny didn't track Robert's first run to goal and then accidentally created an own goal to put Reading 2-0 up. Martinez failed to save Leigertwood's goal effort to put Reading 3-0 ahead and also allowed Hunt's header to hit the back of the net. With a disasterous first half behind them, it was no wonder that Arsenal fans started leaving the game during half-time, even after Walcott managed a goal for Arsenal just before the end of the first half. This should have increased Arsenal's drive and made the game more interesting, but Arsenal still suffered for the next 25 minutes. Koscielny redeemed himself slightly for his earlier mistakes with a header and 89th minute goal. Four minutes of stoppage time ensued with Arsenal netting an equaliser from Walcott in the 96th minute. Chamakh then put Arsenal in front for the first time during the game, but Reading soon scored again to make the score 5-5. With just four minutes to go, the pressure was on. Walcott and Chamakh both delivered another goal each in the closing minutes to make sure Arsenal (finally) won the game.
