Spanish La Liga: Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid earned a point but failed to take the opportunity to narrow the gap with table toppers Barcelona with a victory. The two best players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, each added to their reputations as they scored twice in a hard-fought 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou last night. The result put an end to Barca's perfect start to the season, as they dropped points for the first time in seven league outings, but Messi and Ronaldo again underlined their quality and wrote another chapter in their rivalry with a brace of goals apiece. Messi and Ronaldo take centre stage

Ronaldo opened the scoring for Madrid on 23 minutes but Messi levelled the scoring on 31 minutes. The Argentine then added a second with an inch perfect free kick from all of 25 yards. Mesut Ozil, however, provided the perfect pass for Ronaldo to snatch a well-deserved point with a goal five minutes from time.
