Croatia 3-1 Ireland, Italy 1-1 Spain - Euro 2012 Group C Results

Italy 1-1 SpainSpain, Euro 2012 champions and World football champions, held a 1-1 tie with Italy in the opening group C game of the Euro 2012. The match took place in Gdansk last Sunday. Di Natale, a substitute brought on in the second half, gave Italy a one goal lead just four minutes after being brough onto the pitch. He slipped a goal into the net corner after a good pass from Pirlo. Spanish side's striker, Fabregas, was quick to tie the score, putting the ball into Italy's goal a few minutes later. Silva and Fabregas worked smoothly to send the ball home to the back of the net past the Italian keeper. Spain, winners of the 2010 World Cup as well as the Euro 2008 title holders, dominated most of the play, but struggled to finish and get the ball home, while Italy was almost completely reliant on counter-attacking. The tie with Italy ended Spain's winning streak of 14 wins in competitive games. Torres was sent onto the pitch shortly after Fabregas scored, to try and conjure up a winning goal, but the match ended with an even score. Spain Euro 2012 tickets and tickets for Italy Euro 2012 games are both currently available. Croatia 3-1 IrelandCroatia are off to a flying start in this year's Euro 2012 competition after defeating Ireland's sloppy defence with ease to bring home a 3-1 victory. Similarly to Spain, Ireland had a 14 match winning streak that came to an abrupt end on Sinday. This is Ireland's only major tournament for 10 years and they couldn't have started with a worse game. Mandzukic was given too much space to work and scored for Croatia in just three minutes. Ireland did manage an equaliser but Jelavic scored his first competitive match goal and Mandzukic managed to get a second ball home to the back of the net to undisputedly put Croatia in the lead. Ireland equalised just 16 minutes later when Sean St Ledger headed in Aiden McGeady's free kick. Ireland tried fighting bravely against Croatia with a solid-looking starting line-up, but are left to beat Italy and/or Spain to have the chance of progression.
