The Premier League served up plenty of drama on Saturday 24th October, with late winners, a red card, and even a perfect record coming to an end. Here, we'll run you through the key fixtures from the day.
De Zerbi's Tottenham see off ten-man Chelsea
Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 2-0 on Saturday, handing Xabi Alonso his first home defeat as Blues boss. Chelsea, without the injured João Pedro, struggled to create chances, and the deadlock was broken on 77 minutes when goalkeeper Mike Penders punched the ball into his own net. Cole Palmer was sent off three minutes later for a second yellow card, and Mathys Tel's superb solo goal three minutes from time sealed it as the Italian coach headed back to north London with a smile on his face.Aston Villa end Manchester City's perfect start
Aston Villa continued their fine form on Saturday with a hard-fought win over Manchester City. The game finished 2-1 in a contest that was far more nervy than the hosts would have liked. A brace from Nicolas Jackson was enough to secure the victory. However, it was City who refused to go away. Erling Haaland cancelled out Jackson's sixth-minute opener seven minutes after the restart, and the visitors piled on the pressure late on, with Haaland denied a second equaliser by a goal-line block from Ian Maatsen. Despite Iliman Ndiaye hitting the post and Zion Suzuki making a string of fine saves, it was Jackson who grabbed the headlines as Unai Emery's side ended Enzo Maresca's bid for eight wins from eight, inflicting City's fourth straight league defeat at Villa Park.
Fulham make it back-to-back wins
Fulham's revival continued on Saturday after a narrow 1-0 win over Coventry City. The game was played in torrential conditions, with Fulham creating the better chances in the first half. Josh King hit the post and Calvin Bassey was denied a penalty by VAR, and they struggled to make the most of their dominance until Oscar Bobb's brilliant solo strike on 80 minutes finally broke the deadlock. Coventry rarely troubled Bernd Leno as Alvaro Arbeloa made it two wins in a row and lifted Fulham out of the relegation zone, leaving Frank Lampard's side second from bottom.
Arsenal draw level with City as defenders deliver
Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table, beating Everton 2-0 to hand the Toffees back-to-back defeats. Ezri Konsa struck in the seventh minute for his first Arsenal goal and Gabriel added a second in the 68th minute, heading home Ben White's cross on his 200th appearance for the club, to knock the stuffing out of the visitors, who struggled to force their way back into the game. The Gunners were without Bukayo Saka and had to shake off an early second-half injury scare to Gabriel, but they held firm for their third win from three since the international break.
