Manchester United Transfers Summer 2026

28 July 2026 at 12:31

Manchester United's first summer under head coach Michael Carrick has reshaped the squad at both ends. Five arrivals have come through the door, a long list of departures has trimmed the wage bill, and the shape of the side that opens the Premier League season is starting to settle.

Here is the confirmed business so far, with what each side of the ledger tells us. The window remains open, so this is a picture of the summer to date rather than the final word.

Andrey Santos was the headline arrival and Carrick's first signing as head coach, the Brazil international completing a switch from Chelsea. Youri Tielemans followed from Aston Villa, adding senior experience and control to the midfield, while Karl Darlow arrived as a free agent after his Leeds United contract expired to provide cover in goal.

The other two are younger additions: winger Tynan Thompson joins from Tottenham Hotspur, and Kit Margetson arrives as an Academy-level signing from Swansea City. Between them, the five point to a window balancing an immediate first-team need in midfield with longer-term squad building.

The outgoings are where the summer has been busiest. Six players left when their contracts expired, most notably Casemiro, who has moved on to Inter Miami, alongside Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia. Rasmus Højlund's move to Napoli was made permanent after his loan spell in Italy.

The rest of the list is loan and development business. Andre Onana has agreed a second season at Trabzonspor, the first loan exit of the window, while Sekou Koné returns to Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland for another campaign. Academy graduates Solomon Honor (Southport) and Elyh Harrison (Greenock Morton) head out for senior football, and James Bailey joined Stockport County early in the window on a free transfer.

What it means for the season ahead

The through-line is clear enough: a lighter, younger squad, a settled first-choice goalkeeper question reopened by Onana's departure, and a midfield rebuilt around Santos and Tielemans. Carrick's first competitive test comes in the Premier League opener away at Hull City on 22 August, with the first home fixture against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on 30 August.

I brought 2 x hospitality tickets for a Liverpool Champions league game on the day for a great price (around 3 x cheaper than through the club, if you can get them!) ticket transfer was quick and easy and instructions were clear. We had a great time and the experience was fantastic from start to finish !

I had a very smooth experience, tickets were delivered on time, I was able to access them seamlessly, added them directly to my wallet. Someone by the name Sam was in touch with me through the process, explained how I should enter the stadium. I was taking my parents for the Arsenal vs Chelsea game. So I was worried about the passes not scanning but his instructions were on point and not difficult and we were all able to enter and watch a great game of football. I would recommend this platform for future use. I had no troubles even though I was hesitant as I had never used it before.
