Andrey Santos was the headline arrival and Carrick's first signing as head coach, the Brazil international completing a switch from Chelsea. The outgoings are where the summer has been busiest. Six players left when their contracts expired, most notably Casemiro, who has moved on to Inter Miami, alongside Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia. Rasmus Højlund's move to Napoli was made permanent after his loan spell in Italy.
The rest of the list is loan and development business. Andre Onana has agreed a second season at Trabzonspor, the first loan exit of the window, while Sekou Koné returns to Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland for another campaign. Academy graduates Solomon Honor (Southport) and Elyh Harrison (Greenock Morton) head out for senior football, and James Bailey joined Stockport County early in the window on a free transfer.
What it means for the season ahead
The through-line is clear enough: a lighter, younger squad, a settled first-choice goalkeeper question reopened by Onana's departure, and a midfield rebuilt around Santos and Tielemans. Carrick's first competitive test comes in the Premier League opener away at Hull City on 22 August, with the first home fixture against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on 30 August.
