Crystal Palace is on the verge of making history. Thanks to a commanding 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium, The Eagles have reached the FA Cup final for only the third time in their existence. This time, they are dreaming of lifting their first-ever major trophy.
Palace breaks through After Villa's mistakes
In a match where Palace showed composure and sharpness, it was Aston Villa who handed them opportunities. After half an hour, a poor pass from Pau Torres was seized upon by Eberechi Eze. With a calm and clinical finish from the edge of the penalty area, Eze fired Palace into the lead, leaving Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez with no chance. Ismaïla Sarr pounced on the loose ball and drilled a shot into the bottom corner, giving Martínez no chance and sparking jubilation among the Palace fans.
Sarr seals a famous victory
Despite substitutions from Unai Emery—bringing on Donyell Malen and Ian Maatsen—Villa could not find a way back into the match. In stoppage time, Sarr capped off a brilliant evening for Palace by scoring his second of the night, making it 3-0 and sending the Eagles supporters into raptures. Crystal Palace, managed by Oliver Glasner, now looks forward to a return to Wembley on May 17th for the FA Cup final. Having previously fallen at the final hurdle against Manchester United in 1990 and 2016, Palace now dreams of finally getting their hands on the famous trophy. Their opponent will be decided when Nottingham Forest faces Manchester City in the second semi-final.
