Fulham secured an impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in a physical encounter at Craven Cottage. Goals from Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon sealed the win, while Spurs struggled to break through Fulham’s defensive resilience.
Fulham takes control in the second half
The match started with both teams battling for possession, with Fulham pressing high and Tottenham looking to find space in behind. While there were half-chances on both ends, neither side managed to break the deadlock in the first half. The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Andreas Pereira delivered a precise assist to Rodrigo Muniz, who made no mistake in finishing past Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to put Fulham ahead 1-0. Tottenham pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Fulham’s defense, marshaled by Bernd Leno in goal, stood firm. In the 88th minute, Fulham doubled their lead as Ryan Sessegnon capitalized on a defensive lapse to score the decisive second goal, securing all three points for the hosts.
Tottenham’s missed opportunities
Spurs had their chances to get back into the game. In stoppage time, Dominic Solanke unleashed a powerful strike, but Leno was alert and made a crucial save to deny him. Earlier, Son Heung-min and Djed Spence also saw their attempts blocked as Fulham frustrated Tottenham’s attacking efforts. Despite some late pressure, Ange Postecoglou’s men could not find a way past Fulham’s well-organized backline, and their hopes of salvaging a result faded as the final whistle blew.
What this means for both teams
For Fulham, the victory is a significant boost as they continue their push for a top-half finish in the Premier League. The team showed defensive discipline and clinical finishing, securing a well-earned three points. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their inability to convert chances into goals. With a crucial Europa League fixture against AZ on the horizon, Postecoglou’s side will need to regroup quickly and find solutions to their attacking struggles. As Fulham celebrates a well-deserved win, Spurs are left searching for answers after another frustrating result.
