Aston Villa eases past Club Brugge to set up PSG QF

Aston Villa secured their place in the Champions League quarterfinals with a dominant 3-0 victory over Club Brugge at Villa Park, sealing a 6-1 aggregate win. The Premier League side had already taken control of the tie after their 1-3 win in Belgium last week and comfortably finished the job at home. Villa will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight after the French champions eliminated Liverpool on penalties the night before.

Early red card ends Brugge’s hopes

Club Brugge arrived in Birmingham with a clear game plan, hoping for an unlikely comeback. However, their ambitions were quickly crushed when Kyriani Sabbe received a red card in the 16th minute for pulling down Marcus Rashford, who was clean through on goal. Playing with ten men against a high-flying Villa side was always going to be a challenge, and from that moment, the visitors were left with an impossible task.

Villa finishes the job in the second half

Despite their numerical advantage, Aston Villa waited until after halftime to deliver the decisive blows. Marco Asensio struck twice, showing his European pedigree, while Ian Maatsen added a third with a well-taken strike from the left flank. The 3-0 result confirmed Villa’s sixth consecutive Champions League victory and reinforced their status as one of the tournament’s surprise contenders.

What’s next? A huge quarterfinal battle against PSG

Aston Villa’s dream run continues, but the challenge will only get tougher. They now prepare for a quarterfinal showdown with Paris Saint-Germain, who knocked out Liverpool on penalties in dramatic fashion the previous night. Can Unai Emery’s side keep their European adventure going, or will PSG’s star power prove too much? The battle for a Champions League semifinal spot is set to be a thriller.
