Manchester City
After a tense end of the season, Manchester City is the first team to qualify for the 2024 Community Shield match. The Premier League title race went all the way till the final day. Man City started this final matchday with a 2 points lead over Arsenal. After 80 seconds it was Phil Foden who already opened the score. When he doubled their lead roughly 20 minutes later, Man City looked pretty much secured themselves the title and therefore a ticket for the 2024 Community Shield. Manchester City fans are looking after their own Community Shield tickets, already excited about the new season.
Possible opponents
With the FA Cup final being played tomorrow, there are currently still two teams in contention to play the Community Shield against Man City in August. Hereby we will discuss the two possible opponents.
Manchester United
The FA Cup final is going to be a very important one for Man United. They’ve had a horrible season and manager Erik ten Hag is under a huge amount of pressure. Winning the final might be the only way to save his job. If they win the final, the Community Shield will be a repeat of this final with both Manchester teams.
Arsenal
Arsenal fans still feel deflated after last Sunday. This looked their perfect opportunity to win the Premier League after 20 odd years. Unfortunately for the Gunners, Manchester City is a real machine and got the title over the line. If Man City wins the FA Cup final and therefore the double, Arsenal will get the second ticket for the Community Shield. This will be their first opportunity to get revanche for the lost title. After tomorrow’s final we will know who Man City will face. Community Shield tickets will be listed immediately after the final!
