2022-2023 Champions League group stage draw English teams

After all qualification matches finished on Wednesday evening, this Thursday was the moment every qualified team was waiting for. The official draw for the 2022-2023 Champions League group stages. In this article we briefly discuss the group stage draw for the four English contenders.

Group A: Liverpool

Liverpool isn’t in the middle of their best start of the Premier League season. They haven’t won a game yet this season. The feeling that the Champions League is about to return, will give some joy to the Scousers. They will play in Group A together with Ajax, Napoli and Rangers Fc. If Liverpool manages to get their form back, they will be the favourites to win this group. The battle with Rangers FC is going to be a very special one home and away.

Group D: Tottenham Hotspur

Out of all the English teams, Tottenham Hotspur will most likely be the most happy with the draw. They were drawn into Group B, together with Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting Portugal and Olympique Marseille. The way Antonio Conte drilled his team since he arrived in North-London, should be enough for the Spurs to qualify for the next round in this group.

Group E: Chelsea

Chelsea is currently heading towards a crisis. After drawing with Tottenham and losing 3-0 against Leeds United, they club is a bit in shock. Can they cope with this, or is this going to be a very tough year for Chelsea? They will play AC Milan, RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb. A group where Chelsea should be battling AC Milan for the first place in the group.

Group G: Manchester City

Manchester City is in a good group. They will face Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and Copenhagen. Especially the match against Borussia Dortmund will be a special one. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland came from Dortmund in the summer. Is he going to be the one who decided the game against his former team?
