Fulham shocks Liverpool on return in Premier League

The Premier League is finally back! After a summer where the England women’s team managed to win the Euro 2022 tournament, it’s now team for club football. The opener of this season was the match between Crystal Palace and Arsenal. In this article we discuss the results of the big 6 teams so far.

Arsenal starts with a win

Arsenal is used to playing the first match of a new season, but they had some bad experiences with it. In recent history Arsenal lost some season openers because the squad was never ready in time. This season things are different; Arsenal already did most of their work on the market. Especially the signings of Man City players Zinchenko and Jesus were two great deals for the club. The former started this match with an assist on Gabriel Martinelli. A deflected cross by Saka, led to the 2-0 for Arsenal. A great start of the season for the Gunners! Arsenal tickets for their next matches are available.

False start for Liverpool

Liverpool fans were very happy when the Premier League fixtures got announced. The FA looked to be very friendly to them, with a start against newly promoted Fulham. In the match against Fulham, they discovered the start of this season was a bit harder than expected. Fulham opened the score in the 32th minute thanks to a goal by Mitrovic. When Darwin Nunez got the equalizer in the 64th minute, things looked to become alright for the Reds. A penalty in the 72nd minute, netted by Mitrovic again, made it very hard. It was Mohamed Salah who scored the 2-2, but Liverpool failed to get a winner. Losing two points at the start of the new season wasn’t what they expected.

Tottenham Hotspur suffers early blow

Fans of Tottenham Hotspur were very excited for the start of this season. They finished last season on a high and added some very good players to the squad. Unfortunately for the fans, none of those new signings started in this match. Antonio Conte gave trust into the players who brought them into the Champions League last season. They couldn’t prevent an early goal by Southampton. Not long after the 0-1 by Ward-Prowse, Tottenham stood up and got themselves some goals. Sessegnon and Dier both scored a goal in the first half. In the second half it was an own goal by Salisu and a great goal by Kulusevski that decided the score to 4-1. A great first victory for the Spurs in this new season.

Rough start for Chelsea

Chelsea started this season with an away match against Everton. An Everton team that is still in transition. Even though Everton missed some players, they managed to give Chelsea a hard time. A penalty in extra time of the first half, netted by Jorginho, was the deciding factor in this match. Chelsea won the match and brought the first three points back home. Now they need to prepare for a tough battle against Tottenham Hotspur next week.
