Community Shield countdown: 2 weeks to go

Manchester City started their preseason in an attempt to get the team ready for the start of the Premier League. Before the Premier League starts, they play a special match in the Community Shield against Liverpool. The two best teams in the modern-day Premier League, will play for a trophy in the first official match of this season. In this article we will focus on the changes in the Manchester City squad compared to last season.

Manchester City incomings

Manchester City has done their business early this season. Before the transfer market officially opened, we already knew Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez joined the team. In the meantime they signed Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega. Three of those players are bought to improve the line-up. Stefan Ortega comes to Manchester as a substitute goalkeeper. He will get the chance to show he’s good enough to replace Ederson, which will be a very hard task.

Man City outgoing transfers

The outgoing transfer department is a bit busier this summer at the Etihad Stadium. The biggest outgoing transfers are two players who left Manchester, but stay in the Premier League. Gabriel Jesus left Man City early in the window for Arsenal. He expects to be the number one striker at Emirates Stadium. Raheem Sterling got just announced by Chelsea this week. He is another player who wanted to play week in, week out. Something that doesn’t happen for a lot of players at Manchester City.

Captain Fernandinho left the club on a free. He wanted to go back to home and goes to play for Atletico PR in Brazil. Subsitute goalkeeper Gavin Bazuna moved to Southampton in an attempt to be a regular starter in the Premier League.
