This Sunday was already the last day of the 4th round in the FA Cup. After some exciting matches over the last two days, it was now time for the final six teams to try and claim a ticket for the round of 16. Liverpool was the only big six Premier League side to play a game on Sunday. Leicester City was the final Premier League team to play in this round. In this article we discuss both their games and the draw for the round of 16.
Liverpool versus Cardiff City
This was a very special day for Liverpool, its players and fans. A few hours after their FA Cup match, Liverpool fans had the opportunity to watch their star players Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the Africa Cup final. After getting into the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool has some more chances on silverware this season. The FA Cup is one of those opportunities. After a tough first half, the Reds got the second half to get a victory over the line. After goals by Jota, Minamino and Elliott, Colwill got one back for Cardiff City. A 3-1 victory brings Liverpool into the next round.
Nottingham Forrest versus Leicester City
Nottingham Forrest caused a big shock after eliminating Arsenal in the previous round. Now they faced another strong English side and once again they managed to cause an upset. They scored three goals between minute 23 and 32 in the first half. Leicester got one back just before half-time, but halfway the second half Forrest got another goal on the board. This was enough to break Leicester’s spirit and 4-1 was the final score in this match. Another huge performance by Nottingham Forrest!
