Chelsea versus Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea played Tottenham Hotspur in a double duel to get through to the final. A 2-0 victory at home with goals by Havertz and an Ben Davies own goal, pretty much sealed the deal for Chelsea. Nobody really expected anything from Spurs in the second leg. An early goal by Antonio Rudiger really ended all doubts. Chelsea qualified for the Carabao Cup final with 3-0 on aggregate.
Liverpool versus Arsenal
The first game between Liverpool and Arsenal got called off because of Covid cases at Liverpool. This meant Arsenal got an away match first instead of a home match. Now the fixtures switched around, Arsenal looked to be in the advantage. The first match only increased the chances that Arsenal would go through to the final. Even though Granit Xhaka got sent off in the first half, Arsenal managed to keep a clean sheet and take a 0-0 draw away from Anfield. This result with 10 men, gave the Gunners a real boost. Especially the missing of Salah, Mane and Keita looked to be too much for Liverpool. In the second match, at Emirates Stadium, Liverpool showed they are still a good team, even without these Africa Cup players. Diogo Jota scored two goals giving his team a 0-2 victory in London.
