Top Premier League teams start FA Cup journey

Today is the start of the 2021-2022 FA Cup tournament for the top teams in the English Premier League. This is round 3 of the cup tournament, so several other teams already played one of two FA Cup games. In this article we focus on the big six of the English Premier League.

Swindon Town versus Manchester City

The leader of the Premier League starts their FA Cup journey today, against the number five of the League Two. This is the perfect opportunity for Pep Guardiola to start some of the youngsters. Whatever team he starts, Manchester City should win this game pretty easily to progress to the next round.

Chelsea versus Chesterfield

The Blues from London will play at home against Chesterfield. Chesterfield is currently on top of the Conference National and will go to London to enjoy this experience. Playing at a stadium like Stamford Bridge is an absolute dream for the Chesterfield players. All they can do is trying to give the Chelsea players a tough time and hope for the best.

Liverpool versus Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town is currently midtable in the League One, while Liverpool is in third place in the Premier League. Liverpool had a midweek game against Arsenal cancelled, but this is the perfect opportunity to start the youngsters. Liverpool’s B-team should be able to beat Shrewsbury and qualify for the next round.

Tottenham Hotspur versus Morecambe

Tottenham Hotspur plays a team that’s focussing on the relegation battle in the League One. They are only 2 points above the relegation zone, while the teams below have some spare matches. This should be the perfect opportunity for Tottenham to get through to round 4 of the FA Cup.

Nottingham Forest versus Arsenal

Nottingham Forest is currently halfway the Championship table. It looks like they will stay there for the remainder of this season. This gives them the opportunity to list a strong line-up in this FA Cup match against Arsenal. The Gunners had some rest so should also be able to play a strong line-up. Arsenal is the favourite to win this game, but they can’t underestimate Nottingham Forest in this match.

Manchester United versus Aston Villa

Manchester United is the only big six team that faces a Premier League opponent. They play at home against Aston Villa. Villa won at Old Trafford earlier this season, can they repeat this? Man United is still looking for any kind of form under Ralf Ragnick.
