Arsenal keeps momentum going against Leeds United

The Gunners got into the top four after beating West Ham United on Wednesday. This victory brought them back into the top four after quite some time. This weekend they faced a struggling Leeds United, in an attempt to get the fourth spot more firmly in their hands. Even though teams liked Man United and Tottenham Hotspur have multiple games in hand, Arsenal wants to keep their top four spot as long as possible. Leeds United is in a big relegation fight, they need to start getting some wins on the board.

Gabriel Martinelli

For a long time, Arsenal fans were wondering where Gabriel Martinelli was. He got back after an injury, but it looked like Mikel Arteta refused to use the young Brazilian. In the last few weeks Martinelli came back into the team and even starts matched now. He showed immediately why Arsenal fans want to see him more often. He scored goals in the 16th and 28th minute to give his team a 2-0 lead. A lead that usually is enough against the struggling Leeds United this season. A goal by Bukayo Saka in the 42 second minute that really sealed the deal for the Gunners.

Late excitement

In the second half we saw what we already knew after the first half, this game was done. Leeds United try to do something back, but the Gunners were just too strong. Even when Raphina scored a penalty in the 75th minute to get one back for Leeds, it never looked they could bring Arsenal in serious danger. Another Arsenal youngster in the likes of Emil Smith-Rowe scored the last goal of the match. Another goal by one of the youngsters that should give Arsenal a bright future. Now we need to wait to see what will happen on the Boxing Day weekend.
