A match against the number last in the Premier League, should be the perfect opportunity for Arsenal to bounce back.

Slow first half by both teams

The first half started slowly for both teams. Arsenal was the better team, but they couldn’t break through Newcastle’s defensive unit. Newcastle United was solid at the back and kept Arsenal away from their goal. A few injuries delayed the first half somehow, but even in the four minutes extra time, Arsenal failed to take the lead in this game. Eddie Howe and his Newcastle team were happy to get back into the dressing room with a 0-0 score.

Youngster lead Arsenal

Arsenal pushed a bit more forwards in the second half, which led to a few good chances. A great combination between Bukayo Saka, Emil Smith-Rowe and Nuno Tavares led to the first goal of the game by Saka. He scored after a quick move by the Arsenal players.

A few minutes later Saka got of injured. He was replaced by another youngster in the likes of Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian showed what he’s worth quickly by doubling the lead a few minutes after entering the pitch. This goal gave Arsenal the comfort of a 2-0 lead and the trust the points were in the bag. They dominated possession, but Newcastle United somehow managed to get a few shots of on target. Aaron Ramsdale continued doing what he’s doing all season and that is making saves. He finished the game with another clean sheet. The 2-0 score remained on the board which is a great bounce for Arsenal.
