Tottenham Hotspur beats Leeds United

Tottenham Hotspur played their first Premier League match at home under Antonio Conte today. The atmosphere in the stadium was a nervous but exciting one. The Tottenham Hotspur fans feel Antonio Conte is the right man to bring the club back to the top 4. Leeds United was the opponent and a team that’s struggling this season. They’ve only won two games so far this season. Can do they damage against Tottenham?

Leeds United dominates first half

The excitement of the Tottenham Hotspur fans faded away the longer the first half went on. Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t keep possession on the ball, let alone create any danger. The first half went by without a shot on target for Tottenham Hotspur. Things went only worse when Dan James opened the score for Leeds United in the 44th minute. A goal just on the verge of half time always has its influence on the game.

Better Spurs in the second half

We don’t know what Antonio Conte’s team talk was at half time, but it sure worked. Tottenham Hotspur was a lot better from the start at the second half. Antonio Conte told in his post-match interview that he made a tactical change at the break. Within 15 minutes after the break, Hojbjerg scored the equaliser for the Spurs. Another 10 minutes later Sergio Reguillon was responsible for the second Spurs goal. The goal that gave Antonio Conte’s team the lead for the first time in this match. From that moment on it was a matter of defending the lead and hoping for another goal on the counter. This goal never came, but they kept the defense closed. A big victory for Conte at his Premier League home debut. Now they can start looking forward and see what they can do this season.
