Comeback Brighton cost Liverpool two points

Liverpool is one of the teams that is considered a serious contender for winning the Premier League this season. This home match against Brighton & Hove Albion was a very exciting one. In this article we talk about the most important moments of this Premier League battle at Anfield.

Entertaining first half

Liverpool started this match flying with an early goal. Jordan Henderson opened the score in the 4th minute of the game. Senegalese star player Sadio Mane doubled the lead in the 24th minute of the game. It looked like he decided the game ten minutes later. Brighton goalkeeper Sanchez hesitated a little bit too long with the ball on his feet when Mane came sliding in to score the 3-0. However, VAR saw he scored with his arm and the goal got cancelled. Then it all got wrong for Liverpool. A few minutes after the 3-0 got cancelled, Enock Mwepu scored one back for Brighton. Brighton was just one goal down at the break instead of three.

Comeback completed

Liverpool dominated possession in the second half but lacked a lot of goal threat. Halfway the second half it was Belgium midfielder Leandro Trossard who scored the first goal in the second half. With just 25 more minutes to go, it was all equal at Anfield. Brighton even looked to be on the winning side for a moment, but another VAR interference removed the 2-3. Liverpool tried to push forward and force a winning goal, but the Brighton defense didn’t break anymore. 2-2 isn’t the result Liverpool was looking for. They are now three points behind Chelsea on the table.Next week they face West Ham United in London. Which will be another tough match, since the Hammers are in great form this season.
