IN BUSINESS SINCE 2006

Promoted from Championship to Premier League

Now the focus is completely back on the Premier League. It’s time to look at the Premier League teams for the 2021-2022 season. 17 teams are familiar, since they already played in the top tier during the previous season. So, now it’s time to look at the three teams that got promoted from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season. You might not be surprised that some of these teams are also very familiar.

Norwich City

The Canaries are back at the highest level! It’s one of those clubs that holds on to their vision and don’t start doing crazy stuff when they get promoted to the Premier League. They don’t start spending loads of money in an attempt to try staying at the highest tier. They got promoted for the 2019-2020 season and did hardly any transfers. That’s why Norwich City got relegated immediately, but it’s also the reason the club is back at the highest level. A normal way of doing your business, clearly works! They kept their manager and a big part of their squad and easily won the Championship. It’s going to be very interesting to see if they can do more in the Premier League this season.

Watford

Just like Norwich City, Watford spent only one season in the Championship and immediately bounced back to the Premier League. Where Norwich City quite easily won the Championship, Watford didn’t have much to fear in their battle for the second spot. It’s good to see them back in the Premier League this season!

Brentford

Brentford finally clinched promotion to the Premier League, after two very impressive seasons in the English Championship. They finished third two times in a row and got to the Championship play-offs final both times. The first time Fulham was too strong for them, but the second attempt they managed to beat Swansea City. Ivan Toney, who has been Brentford star player for two years, opened the score and Marcondes finished the job in the 20th minute. Now the Bees are back at the highest level for the first time since 1992.
