Relegation battle Premier League 2019-2020 season

This Sunday is the final day of the 2019-2020 Premier League season. Many decisions have already been made in the Premier League. Liverpool won the league a long way out, while Norwich City got relegated to the Championship a few weeks earlier. There is still a lot to play for on this last day of the season. The most interesting part of this footballing Sunday is going to be the battle against relegation. Three teams are fighting for the last safe spot.

Bournemouth

The Cherries won the Championship title in the 2014-15 season. This title got them promoted to the top tier of English football for the first time in their history. This current season is their fifth consecutive season in the English Premier League. It’s very possible their last season in the Premier League for now. Bournemouth is on 31 points and will play their last match of this season against Everton. Only a victory in this match gives them a chance to stay in the Premier League. Even then it depends on the results of their 2 competitors.

Watford

Watford sacked several managers throughout this season. Nigel Pearson, came in this get them out of the relegation zone. He managed to achieve this, but nevertheless the club decided to sack him before the last two matches of this season. The first match without Pearson at the helm, brought Watford back in the relegation zone. They lost against Manchester City, while Aston Villa beat Arsenal. Watford is currently in 34 points, giving them still every chance to get out of the relegation zone.

Aston Villa

The Villans are currently just above the relegation zone. They’ve also got 34 points, just like Watford, but a better goal difference brings Aston Villa on the safe 17th spot on the table. Aston Villa plays their last match of this season away against West Ham United. The Hammers recently played themselves safe and would like to finish this season in a good manner. Aston Villa’s goal difference is currently just 1 goal better than Watford’s. So, all Villa has to do is to match Watford’s results against Arsenal and they will stay in the Premier League.
