Liverpool v Everton match preview

The Merseyside derby is on tonight and it will be at the home of the European champions. The two teams from Merseyside are having very different moments with Liverpool being top of the league with an eight-point gap to second, whereas Everton are in 17th place only two points above the relegation zone. If Everton lose this match and other results, go against them then they could end the week in the bottom three. This would most likely see Marco Silva lose his job as he is already under a lot of pressure to change the club’s fortunes.

Alisson is suspended for this match after he got sent off against Brighton for handling outside the area. The game ended nervously for Liverpool who conceded to resulting free-kick and had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men but still won 2-1. He will be replaced by second choice Adrian, who did well as deputy earlier in the season when Alisson was injured. Liverpool will also be without Matip and Fabinho who are still out injured.

Everton lost their game on the weekend to Leicester after a 94th-minute winner which deflated their sails after the hard work they put into the match. This left them in 17th place two points above the relegation zone. Everton have been very poor against Liverpool recently with their last away win coming almost 10 years ago in 2010. This will not give them great confidence especially with Liverpool’s home form of late.

This game week is the first one that will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime as they bought the right to show two-game weeks of the season. This could be the start of the future of football being streamed online.

Liverpool are expecting to win this game with ease even though the last time the two teams met the match ended in a 0-0 draw. But this time out Liverpool are top of the league playing their best football whereas Everton are having a difficult moment and are at the other side of the table. Marco Silva will need his team to put their all on the field otherwise he probably will be looking for a new job.

Predicted result- Liverpool 2-0 Everton.
