Liverpool Arsenal match preview

Liverpool host Arsenal in the Premier League match of the weekend. Liverpool and Arsenal are the only two teams in the league to have won their first two matches so far. The last times the two teams met at Anfield, Liverpool blew Arsenal out of the water winning 5-1. Emery will want to avoid a repeat of this as he was viably fuming during that match last December.

Arsenal have invested in their squad over the summer, breaking their transfer record by signing Pepe for 72 million pounds. They also brought in Ceballos on loan from Madrid and he put in a man of the match performance in his home debut, assisting two goals. They also improved their defense by signing David Luiz from Chelsea and Tierney from Celtic. This has given their defense a more solid look even though Tierney is out injured and has not played yet. Arsenal also signed 18-year-old Saliba Saint-Etienne for 27 million pounds but loaned him back for the season.

Liverpool on the other hand, have only made two singings and both are teenagers. They have not improved their squad over the summer, but they have a couple of players coming back from long term injuries and Klopp thought that they have sufficient squad depth in order to compete for all four trophies again.

Liverpool looked a little shaky in their last couple of matches. They played Southampton last weekend and were cruising 0-2 until Adrian made a mistake to let the Saints back into the match. Late in the match Ings had the opportunity to get the equalizer but missed the ball from 5 yards out to spare Liverpool blushes. In the match before that against Chelsea, their defense looked vulnerable, but Chelsea could also not capitalize. Klopp will want to make sure that his team shows more of the composure in defense that they had last season.

Arsenal have won both of their games by only one goal, winning 0-1 away to Newcastle and then beating a resilient Burnley 2-1 at home. Emery will be encouraged that both of his strikers, Lacazette and Aubameyang both have opened their account for the season.

Both teams attack seems to be starting the season strong, with both defenses still looking a little shaky, which sounds like the making for a high scoring great match.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-2 Arsenal.
