Liverpool’s amazing season

Liverpool are having an incredible season are still are at risk of finishing without a trophy. They could finish the Premier League with 97 points, three points off of the record for most points ever in a season, and still finish second behind Manchester City. That really shows how good both teams have been this season. Liverpool have only lost one game all season and that was to Manchester City in early January. Their brilliance in the Premier League has been down to their attack but also the vast improvement of their defense. This is largely down to Van Dijk who won the PFA player of the year last night. That coupled with Alexander-Arnold and Robertson’s form has made their defense of the best in Europe.

They also have their Champions League semi-final game coming up this week and will be looking to make it to their second final in a row. This is a huge achievement for Klopp’s side, and he will be hoping that they can go one step further than last year and win Europe’s most prestigious trophy. However, they will have to get through a tough Barcelona side with an in-form Messi who is very tough to stop when he is on point. Liverpool had also not been in the best of form away from home in the Champions League group stage this season, losing all three away games. With that being said, their last two away games have been against Bayern and Porto which they won 1-3 and 1-4 respectively. It will be very intriguing to see how they cope with the likes of Messi and Suárez and if their front three can break down Barca’s defense.

All in all, Liverpool have had a great season, and look like the best team Liverpool have had in many years. Even with all the talent in their ranks and the position that they are in, the season could end trophyless… but it could also end up with a league and Champions League double. Either way, they should be praised for the season they are having and will have to produce their best yet for the end of the season.
