Wolves Manchester United FA Cup preview

Wolves host Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final. Wolves have had an amazing first season back in the Premier League and have been particularly good against the top 6 sides. They have taken more points from the top 6 teams than any other team which is a huge achievement for them. They currently sit in 7th in the league and could be looking at a European place if the winner of the FA Cup already has qualified for Europe.

The two teams faced each other in September at Old Trafford in a game that ended 1-1. Wolves’ performances against the top 6 teams have been very impressive especially at home and this will make United feel a little worried. United have had to go through some tough away games already to reach this stage of the tournament. Their previous gamer coming against Chelsea, and the one before that against Arsenal, which they won 0-2 and 1-3 respectively. Wolves’ last two games came against opposition from lower divisions; however, they did beat Liverpool 2-1 in their first game of the tournament and will be hoping they can replicate that win.

Both teams will want to put in better performances than they did on the weekend as they both did not have ideal games. Wolves had to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and it looked like they were going to come away with a famous win after Jimenez put them ahead. However, Hazard scored a 92nd-minute equalizer to deny Wolves a league double over Chelsea.

United, on the other hand, faced Arsenal and were outdone by a long shot from Xhaka which De Gea misread, and an Aubameyang penalty meaning that they lost their first league match since Solskjaer took over. Both these games will still be fresh in the player's mind, but they will have to put that behind them and come into this match with 100% focus on making it to the semi-finals.

Predicted result Wolves 1-2 Manchester United.
