FA Cup 4th round

The FA Cup fourth round was entertaining, and it brought some interesting results, with some of the lower teams beating Premier League sides. The FA Cup is known for having upsets in the competition and this round was no different. West Ham were beaten 4-2 by League One Wimbledon, Everton were beaten in the 93rd minute against Championship Millwall, and Spurs were knocked out by Palace. These were all results that you wouldn’t have excepted and were good for the underdogs. Spurs will be especially upset considering that were knocked out of the League Cup on Thursday and then three days later knocked of the FA Cup. These were Spurs’ best chances to win a trophy this year, but it looks like they will have to wait another season to try to finally win some silverware.

Manchester United’s resurgence under Solskjaer continued against Arsenal where they won 3-1 at the Emirates. It was a comfortable victory for the team with Lingaard, Lukaku and Sanchez scoring. For Sanchez it was a proud moment, as it was almost one year to the day that he left Arsenal for United and showed his class by not celebrating his goal. United now face Chelsea in the next round which will also be a very tense match for both teams. Chelsea will want to continue their defense of the title and Solskjaer will want to try to win his first trophy of his Manchester United’s managerial career.

City will be looking to win only third second FA Cup since 1969 with their other one coming in 2011. They will have to face either Newport County or Middlesbrough who have to replay their fourth-round match. City will feel confident that they can beat either of those sides easily after beating Burnely 5-0 in the last round. City are, with Chelsea or United the favorites to win this competition. Apart from them there are only three other Premier League teams. It will be interesting to see what the next round brings and who progresses.
