EFL Cup quarter final

The of EFL Cup is at the quarter final stage now. Currently, there are five Premier League sides, with the sixth joining once the game between Southampton and Leicester has been played. The winner of that game will face Man City. Tottenham face Arsenal, Chelsea host Bournemouth, and Middlesbrough face League One side Burton Albion.

The most exciting from the quarter final round will be the north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal. This will be a tense game with both teams knowing that this competition is one of their best chances of winning a trophy this year.

Tottenham last won a trophy in 2008 when they won this tournament. Pochettino knows that if his team beat arsenal in the quarter final and avoid City in the semi-final then his team have a good chance of getting to the final and winning. Arsenal last won this cup in 1993. They have won the FA cup three out of the last four years but never get far in this tournament. New manager Emery will want to put that stat to bed and win his first trophy with Arsenal.

Chelsea on paper should beat Bournemouth, however Bournemouth are having an exceptional season for their standards and sit in 6th in the Premier League. Wilson and Fraser have been excellent and could cause an upset to Chelsea.

Man City have been so strong this season that they are favourites to win the cup. They will most likely win against either Leicester or Southampton and also wont fear anyone in the semi-final.

The three Premier League sides will be hoping though to get the winner of the game between Middlesbrough and Burton, as they know this will be the easiest path to the final. It will be interesting to see who goes through to the semi-final and what matches the draw produces.
