Barcelona keep winning

There are mixed feelings about Barcelona’s performances this year. In some games they look very dominant and in some they look a little lost. In the about Champions League though, they look very solid. Last night they played Inter away and were unlucky not to come away with all three points.

Barcelona were dominant in the match against Inter and had countless opportunities to take the lead in the first half. In the second half summer signing Malcom came on to score his first goals for the club. He has not been given lots of playing time since his move to the club, and you could see it was an emotional moment for him. However, Inter came back and scored in the 87th minute to equalize. It was quite a scrappy goal from Inter’s captain Icardi that could have been defended better by Barcelona. In spite of this Barcelona still qualified for the knockout round.

It was a bit of a different story on the weekend where Barcelona almost lost their match against Rayo Vallecano who are 19th in about La Liga. They needed an 87th minute equalizer from Dembele and then a 90th minute winner from Suárez. This was not their best performance and they struggled to break down a relatively poor Rayo side. However, they still got the result and sit three points clear at the top of the league table.

Since Messi’s injury Suarez has been in fine form. He has scored six goals since the 20th of October when Messi fractured his arm. This is a big contrast to when Messi was in the team and Suarez was out of from. This raises the question of whether Suárez plays better when Messi is not playing. Either way Suarez is now at the top of the La Liga scoring charts with nine goals. With Messi coming back soon it will be interesting to see if Suarez can continue his good form and Barcelona can continue winning matches.
