Can Spurs challenge the top teams?

Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in 4th in the Premier League two points off top spot, level on points with Chelsea in 3rd and three points ahead of Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand. Spurs have only played two out of the big six, so far. One match against Manchester United and one match against Liverpool. The game against Manchester United they won away from home 0-3 and were very dominant in the match. This showed that Spurs are able to beat the top teams. The game against Liverpool was a little different. They were out played at home and the game ended 1-2. However, Liverpool never looked like they were going to lose the match and Spurs only scored a consolation goal in the 92nd minute. This was quite a big contrast to the way they played against United.

This weekend sprayers have to play Man City at home. This is a very big game, and will be a real test for them, however, if they can win then they should be considered title contenders. Spurs are very solid team but didn’t make any transfers during the summer transfer window because of their money was going into their new stadium. Many criticized Tottenham for not making any signings and said that the team would not be able to cope or challenge for titles. However, after a small blip in early September Spurs look strong and have depth in their squad even without making any signings.

So far this season Spurs have only lost two games and won the other seven in the Premier League. This record is comparable to the top teams and shows that their ambition is not only to try to get into the top four, but also to challenge for the title. With the young squad that they have, and Mauricio Pochettino as manager, they have a big potential to win a trophy this season.
