IN BUSINESS SINCE 2006

Season defining day for Manchester United

It’s transfer deadline day in the Premier League. Teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are ready for weeks now. Manchester United however is nowhere near ready if you have to believe their manager Jose Mourinho. Several Manchester United fans are very unhappy with the business their club has done in the summer so far. Where their competitors have strengthened their squad, this stayed pretty quiet at Old Trafford. Today is the last chance for the Mancunians to build a title worthy squad.

With Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant, they’ve but only one player that’s really contending for a spot in the first eleven. Diogo Dalot is a talented defender, who needs to fight for a place in the first team, Lee Grant will be the third goalkeeper. Fred is the only player who almost certainly play regular football in the first team.

Several players were linked to Manchester United in the past few weeks, but somehow, they don’t manage to get deals done. Tottenham Hotspur player Toby Alderweireld has been linked to Man United since the end of last season. Now it’s the last day of the transfer market and the Belgium centre-back is still a Tottenham Hotspur player at the moment. He is running out of his contract, so Tottenham is willing to let him go if the right bid comes in. The fact that the Mancunians still haven’t get this deal through, means they aren’t doing the right things at the moment.

The big question of the day is if they are getting deals done today. They can become title contenders if they get two or three new players in. The big problem is that the top players are even more expensive on the last transfer day. Teams don’t want to lose their best players on the latest day, because this limit’s their time to find replacements. We’re excited to see what will happen today!
