Jose Mourinho expects rough season for Man United

Jose Mourinho takes every single opportunity to tell the media he thinks Manchester United is heading towards a rough season. With only 4 more days to go before the end of the transfer window, he tells in every single interview and press conference that the current Man United squad is too weak. He spoke to the press after the match against Bayern Munich: “It’s going to be a hard season when we don’t manage to improve our squad in the next few days.”

It’s always the question what Mourinho’s intentions are with saying what he says. He is a smart guy and never says anything without a reason. The most likely reason is that he wants a squad that is ready to compete for the title. We’ve all seen what Liverpool has done on the market so far this season, Man City was already 19 point ahead last season. So, there is some serious work to do for Mourinho and the board. Another possible reason for him to say all these things is that he’s unhappy at the club and hopes to get sacked soon. This might sound strange, but hey it is Mourinho we’re talking about.

Manchester United isn’t very active in this transfer window so far, but fireworks are expected for this week. They bought Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant. Daley Blind and Sam Johnstone are sold. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the transfer market develops with all the different closure dates. The Spanish top sides are interested in some of the big players in the Premier League. Are they going to act now or will they take a gamble and wait for the PL transfer window to close? The hottest rumours at the moment are about Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng, who both are linked to Man United. Things will look much brighter for the Mancunians when these deals get through.
