Champions League update: EPL teams
Premier League titan clubs top their Champions League Groups
Gameday 5 of the 2017-18 Champions League season is now over, with Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea topping their groups. Spurs were already through to the last 16 ahead of their game against Borussia Dortmund in Germany and confirmed the top spot in Group H after sealing a 2-1 comeback win over BVB. Liverpool wasted their 3 goal lead as Sevilla fought back to draw 3-3. Manchester City retained a perfect Champions League record with a 1-0 win over Feyenoord in City’s 17th consecutive victory in all competitions. Chelsea went through to the last-16 with a 4-0 win over Qarabag in Baku. Basel defeated Manchester United with a shocking late 1-0 goal in Group A. England Premier League clubs have already earned more wins in the 2017-18 Champions League tournament than all of the last season. Going into their fixtures in game-day six, Man United, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, and Tottenham all sit on top of their groups. As things stand, all five English teams are set to go through to the next round ot the Champions League.

Manchester United – Group A Leaders
Manchester United still have to earn at least another point to ensure they will qualify after losing 1-0 at Basel. Michael Lang's 89th-minute winner in Switzerland lifted Basel up to second place in Group A ahead of CSKA Moscow on goal difference. A goal from Georgi Schennikov along with a Vieira Jardel own goal gave CSKA a 2-0 home win over Benfica. CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev got credit for the clean sheet, his first in 11 years in the Champions League.

Paris Saint Germain – Group B Leaders
Mighty Paris Saint-Germain remains on top of Group B with a 7-1 thrashing of Celtic in Paris to make it 5 wins from 5 matches. Scottish champions Celtic took the lead against PSG at Parc des Princes in the first minute through Moussa Dembele's strike. Neymar and Edinson Cavani each scored twice for PSG, and Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti, and Dani Alves also scored. Bayern Munich will finish behind PSG after winning 2-1 at Anderlecht. Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski and Corentin Tolisso scored pn either side of Sofiane Hanni's equalizer.

Chelsea – Group C Leaders
Chelsea’s Willian scored two goals as England Premier League "Big Six" side Chelsea went through into the Last 16 with a 4-0 win over 10-man Qarabag at the Olympic Stadium in Baku. Two spot-kicks and a first-half red card for Qarabag’s Captain Rashad Sadygov helped give giant Premier League club Chelsea to a third win from five Group C games to qualify ahead of their much-anticipated home match against Spanish La Liga titans Atletico Madrid. Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas converted, and Willian marked his 200th Blues appearance with two stunning goals. Chelsea have reached the Last-16 in 14 of their last 15 attempts. Star striker Antoine Griezmann's amazing goal kept Atletico Madrid's hopes alive as they earned a 2-0 victory against Roma. France international Griezmann sent in a 69th-minute overhead kick to secure a crucial 2-0 win over Serie A club Roma at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Atletico’s Kevin Gameiro added a late second and Bruno Peres was sent off for Roma, to take Atletico's qualification fight to their final game with Chelsea in Group C.

Barcelona – Group D Leaders
Sporting Lisbon moved within a point of second-placed Juventus with a 3-1 home win against Olympiacos. Bas Dost scored either side of a goal from Bruno Cesar for Sporting, with Vadis Odjidja netting a late consolation. Titan Italy Serie A side Juventus fought to a goalless draw with Spanish La Liga giant club Barcelona, who arrived in Turin already assured of their place in the knockout stages and who began the match with Lionel Messi sitting on the bench. The second qualifying spot remains up for grabs in Group D.

Liverpool – Group E Leaders
Sevilla recovered after giving up three goals in the first 30 minutes against England Premier League club Liverpool, earning a 3-3 draw with an injury-time equalizer by Guido Pizarro. Roberto Firmino scored twice for Chelsea and set up Sadio Mane's goal in the first half-hour before Sevilla rallied with a pair of goals by Wissam Ben Yedder in the second half along with Pizarro's late equalizer. Liverpool almost secured their spot in the knockout stages but will go into their final game only 1 point ahead of Sevilla. Spartak Moscow, who were held by Maribor to a 1-1 draw in Russia, are 3 points behind Liverpool. Sevilla play their final game against already-eliminated Maribor. Liverpool host Spartak.

Manchester City – Group F Leaders
Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling scored a late winner as Premier League leaders City defeated Feyenoord 1-0, securing the top spot in Group F. Sterling ran onto Ilkay Gundogan's through-ball and scored against Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones in the 88th minute. It was City's fifth straight win in the group and Pep Guardiola's side remain unbeaten in all competitions this season. Napoli defeated second-place Shakhtar 3-0.

Monaco crashed out of the Champions League with a 4-1 loss to RB Leipzig. With Monaco eliminated, Leipzig and Porto will fight for the last qualifying spot in Group G in the final round of group-stage matches. Besiktas drew Porto with 1-1 on Tuesday, advancing to the top of Group G.

Tottenham Hotspur – Group H Leaders
England Premier club Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to defeat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to secure their spot in the Last 16 as group winners ahead of titan Spain La Liga club Real Madrid. Superstar striker Harry Kane and Heung-min Son canceled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal for Dortmund to keep Spurs on top of Group H. Real Madrid are three points behind in second place. The defending champions cannot catch the Premier League side on account of their inferior head-to-head record, despite a 6-0 defeat of APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus. The Spurs drew with the Spanish champions in Madrid and won the reverse fixture 3-1 at Wembley Stadium in London.
