Real Racing Club de Santander is a prominently featured club in Spanish football since its formation on February 23, 1913. Also known as Los Racinguistas among its supporters, the club has managed reasonable success in Spain's domestic football. Santander football tickets hardly show any decline in sales due to the quality of the game exhibited by the players. They have played 44 seasons in La Liga and 33 in Segunda División. Due to the club's recent financial turmoil it was relegated to Segunda División B a season ago. Racing Club de Santander participated in the UEFA Europa League on 2008 - '09. Football matches in Santander are played in Campos de Sport de El Sardinero. The 22,222 capacity stadium was built in 1998 replacing the older stadium, Estadio El Sardinero, of the city.
