Can Juventus be stopped?

Juventus are flying high in Serie A. They narrowly beat Inter on weekend to go 14 points ahead of their rivals who are currently in third. This means that Juventus have started the season unbeaten in 15 matches. Even when Juventus don’t play well, and their opponents seem like they could leave with a result, Juventus still seem to walk away with all three points.

However, Inter did not put up the biggest fight and seemed to give Juventus too much respect. Icardi barely saw the ball and easily dealt with by Chiellini and Bonucci, it was not his night. This was the first game in 11 that Inter failed to score a goal. They will be hoping that this will not be the case against PSV in the Champions League, where Inter know they need to better Tottenham’s result in order to go through.

Ronaldo also did not have the best of games. He didn’t have many chances and was kept quiet by Inter’s defence. This was the first time in 13 matches that Ronaldo failed to contribute with either a goal or an assist. Juventus will hope that he is back firing for their last Champions League group game against Young Boys in Switzerland. This is a big game for Juventus, because even though they have qualified for the Knockout round, they only have a two-point lead over Manchester united and could finish second in the group if they don’t win. This is something Juventus want to avoid because they could face a host of the big European power houses if they come in second. So, they know they need a win to not have to worry about United result in the other game.

Juventus’ next game in Serie A is also a big one. They face Torino in the Turin derby. This is a match that is always heated and has produced wonderful fixtures in the past. The following league game is against Roma, which will also be a big game, even though Roma are struggling this season and are sitting in 8th place at the moment.
