FA Cup: Fulham 0-1 Sheffield United (AET)

Sheffield United held their nerve to claim another Premiere League scalp, beating Fulham 1-0 after extra-time to progress to the next round. The fourth-round replay looked like it was heading for penalties when, in the 120th minute, Shaun Miller got on the end of a header from Harry Maguire to send the visiting Blades fans into rapture as their team advanced as the lowest-ranked side remaining in the competition.

Two minutes after the start, United's Jamie Murphy came close when his 25 yard shot went just wide of Fulham's right-hand post. Neither team had a chance as good for the remaining 43 minutes, and it was United who went in at the break more positive, having shown the crowd they weren't afraid of their Premiere League opponents. Rene Meulensteen's team, who found themselves last week dropping down to the bottom of the Premiere League, continuously struggled against a side who languished in the relegation zone two divisions below them.

The home side started to hold onto possession as the game progressed, but both sets of fans started to get frustrated at their teams apparent lack of goal-scoring ability. The home fans especially vented their frustrations at both their team and manager as the game edged toward extra-time. The terrible weather conditions seemed to dishearten everyone in the ground, but when the final whistle was blown just after Miller scored in the final moments, the visiting section burst into song and cheered the players who went over to celebrate with them. United will now play either Nottingham Forest or Preston in the fifth round.
