Champions League Update: Galatasaray 1-0 Juventus

The crucial Champions League game between Galatasaray and Juventus was resumed this afternoon, after the final league group match was abandoned after 30 minutes yesterday. Heavy snowfall in Istanbul led to the match being rescheduled for today. The visitors had carved out the only clear-cut chance they had before Tuesday's suspension of play, as Llorente got close-range after some great work from Vidal in the first 30 minutes played. As the match resumed play today, Galatasaray had a stronger start. Sneijder broke through the deadlock by scoring late in the game. A header from Didier Drogba was the perfect set up for Sneijder who scored in the 85th minute for Galatasaray. He fired his low shot straight past Gianluigi Buffon in the last Group B match to be played this season. The win for Galatasaray pushed them above Juventus, previous Italian champions, as they accumulated 7 points in the Group B playoffs. Juventus only accumulated 6 points in all six games and will now drop to the Europa League. Real Madrid were the Group B winners after accumulating 16 points in 6 games. Of the four teams in Group B, Real Madrid took pole position after their 2-0 Copenhagen, Galatasaray ended in a respectable second place with Juventus in third and Copenhagen bringing up the rear with just four points.
