CL: PSG 2-2 Barcelona | Bayern Munich 2-0 Juventus

Paris Saint-Germain 2-2 FC Barcelona

Twice Barcelona had the lead in this Champions League quarter-final first leg, and twice PSG equalised. Lionel Messi scored in the 38th minute but left the field soon after suffering from what appears to be a hamstring injury. After the break the tension mounted, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic nudged the ball in twenty minutes from time after Thiago Silva's header rebounded off the post. He was in an offside position but the referee let the goal stand, to the frustration of the Barcelona camp. Sirigu fouled Alexis Sanchez in the 89th minute, and Xavi converted to put Barça 2-1 up, but in the fourth minute of added time Blaise Matuidi was laid on by Ibrahimovic and he saw his shot nutmeg Bartra and slide past Victor Valdes. The result gives PSG a slim chance in the second-leg at the Camp Nou.

Bayern Munich 2-0 Juventus

The Bundesliga leaders got off to a flying start in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie. David Alaba unleashed a shot from 35 yards out and saw it take a wicked deflection off Arturo Vidal. Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon could do nothing about it and the German side were one up with only 30 seconds on the clock. Juventus had a few chances, but Bayern were truly dominant throughout the match. Thomas Mueller made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute, after he turned in a square pass from Mario Mandzukic. The return leg in Turin next week should see Munich progress to the last four for the second successive year.
