Capital One Cup: Chelsea 5-4 Manchester United

Chelsea and Manchester United put on an incredible show for the second time in four days as they battled it out in what ended up as a 5-4 win for Chelsea. The Blues took revenge for their Premier League defeat only a few days ago to book a well-earned spot in the quarter-finals.It was actually United that took the lead with a 22nd-minute opener from Ryan Giggs following a defensive horror show from the home team. Chelsea's David Luiz levelled the tie with a penalty - only to have Javier Hernandez restore United's advantage just before the break. However, Chelsea demonstrated their battling qualities by drawling level just seven minutes into the second half with a rare goal from Gary Cahill. However, Chelsea's frailties once again let Manchester United take the lead with a lovely finish from Nani. But thanks to an injury-time penalty from Eden Hazard, the home team forced the game into extra time.Yet another defensive mix up was punished by Daniel Sturridge just seven minutes into extra time. Ramires added a fifth for Chelsea with four minutes to go, before Giggs scored a late consolation from the penalty spot.Chelsea now look forward to a quarter-final tie and the possibility of securing the club's first silverware of the season. You can buy tickets for Chelsea securely right here at LiveFootballTickets.
