World Cup Qualifiers: Poland 1-1 England

England received a setback to their World Cup 2014 ambitions in Warsaw as they drew 1-1 with Poland. The game was postponed for 24 hours because of a waterlogged pitch but both teams returned to the stadium to play the tie almost a day later than planned. England were under par, however, and the result means that automatic qualification for the finals in Brazil will be just that bit more difficult. England still top

Both teams retained the line ups that were named the day before, with England manager, Roy Hodgson, playing Tom Cleverley in an unusual left of midfield role in a 4-4-2 formation. England took the lead with a Wayne Rooney strike after 31 minutes. The Manchester United man then missed an opportunity to double that lead before Glik equalised for the Poles. Rooney claimed after the game that the team could play much better but said that the point was well earned. England are currently top of qualifying Group H on eight points but Montenegro could leapfrog them with a win against San Marino next month.
