Players are moving around with Euro 2024 hopes

In five months’ time Euro 2024 starts. England is widely considered as one of the facourites to win this tournament. According to the bookies England is currently the biggest favourite to win it. Many England players will feel this is the year football should be coming home. That also mean every English players wants to play an amazing second half of the season in order to be nominated by manager Gareth Southgate. Those who aren’t playing enough minutes at the moment, use this January transfer window to find another club. In this article we discuss the players who already made a move or are in contention to make one later this month.

Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho had his best period at Borussia Dortmund. This was also the time he played loads of matches for England. He struggled after his move to Man United and hasn’t played for England since October 2021. After a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho was completely left out of the Man United first team. He decided to make a loan move back to Borussia Dortmund, where he started with an assist at his comeback match. He will use the remainder of this season to show Gareth Southgate he deserve to be on the plane in the summer. Even though he doesn’t need to fly, since he’s already in Germany.

Jordan Henderson to Ajax

Jordan Henderson was one of the players who made a move to the Saudi league in the summer. Now, six months later he wasn’t happy in Saudi Arabia and decided to move back to Europe. Not only for his career and his family, but also for his chances to be part of the England Euro 2024 squad in the summer. Even after his move to Saudi Pro League, Henderson kept getting called up for the national team. His moved to Dutch giants Ajax, will be an attempt to stay in the squad. A team where they are in desperate need of leadership and experience, the qualities Henderson has loads off. This looks to be a good fit and will give him the opportunity to convince Southgate.

Eric Dier to Bayern Munich

Tottenham Hotspur centre back Eric Dier, wasn’t getting any minutes under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager who completely rejuvenated the Spurs, preferred to play wing back in the centre over Dier. This was the sign for Dier to make a move. After Spurs signed a new centre back, Eric Dier decided a loan move to Germany. In Munich he will be reunited with England captain Harry Kane. The competition at Bayern is even bigger than at Spurs, so it’s going to be really interesting to see if he can get more minutes in Germany.
