FA Cup semi-final

Brighton and Hove Albion started the game brightly, dominating possession in the first few minutes. They pressed high up the pitch, trying to force Manchester United into making mistakes. Their efforts paid off, as they were able to create several promising opportunities in the first half hour of the game.

No goals

Despite Brighton's early dominance, Manchester United slowly grew into the game and started to create chances of their own. Both teams had four shots on target in the first 90 minutes, but neither were able to find the back of the net. David de Gea was the goalkeeper who had to make the hardest saves. The game remained evenly balanced throughout the first half, with both teams showing good defensive resilience to keep each other at bay. The second half saw Manchester United start to take more control of the game, with their attacking players causing problems for Brighton's defense. However, they were unable to find a way past the Brighton goalkeeper, who continued to make crucial saves to deny Manchester United. With the score still 0-0 after 90 minutes, the game went into extra time.

Rashford attempt

In extra time Manchester United tried to take control of the game. Just before the end of the first half of extra time, it was Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who had to make a save. An attempt from Rashford, got touched by a Brighton defender and Sanchez had to stretch to push the ball away from the goal. After 105 minutes played, the score stayed 0-0. Both teams had 15 more minutes to make the difference. The second half of extra time it was United who pushed forwards, but they couldn’t capatilise on this.

Penalties to decide

Penalties were going to decide which team is going to return to Wembley in the beginning of June. After both teams scored their first 6 penalties, it was Solly March who skied the ball. This gave Victor Lindelof the perfect opportunity to become the hero of the evening. The Swede scored his penalty and put Manchester United into the FA Cup final.
